Every month, on average, 200 animals enter the Dekalb County Animal Adoption Center. And most are owner surrenders.

With your help, the FODCAAC can provide foster homes, medical care, adoption opportunities and low cost spay and neuter surgeries which will decrease the number of animals in the shelter, and reduce the number of animals euthanized.

Friends of DeKalb County–Alabama Animal Adoption Center (FODCAAC) is a volunteer-run, foster-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit made up of a dedicated group of volunteers. Our mission is to improve visibility and increase awareness of the countless number of abandoned, homeless animals in DeKalb County, AL with the ultimate goal being to unite these deserving animals with the perfect forever family of their own.

Help us give a shelter pet the loving home they deserve.

Paws for a Cause

Each November, we raise funds to support our low-cost spay and neuter program for the DeKalb County, Alabama community. To learn more about this effort, please visit the Paws for a Cause Facebook page.

While we work hard to raise the funds needed to provide these services, the limited number of low-cost veterinarians in our area means appointment availability can be very restricted. If you do not receive a quick response, it usually means current appointments are already filled or backed up.

We are actively exploring additional solutions, including purchasing a transport van that would allow us to take larger groups of community pets to the low-cost clinic in Huntsville. If you would like to apply to get your cat or dog on the schedule for spaying or neutering, please click the link to apply.
